Cover Story.

The of July  1991 issue of RCMW features a young lady called Vanessa Gunn that I conned into posing with my model. I also persuaded my friend Andy Draper to use his full size LongEze as a back drop.

I had visions of a warm sunny day, Vanessa with something light and flimsy with the unusual LongEze featured in the background. (see My Favourite Cover for typical example!).

WRONG... the photo session took place in March and the temperature was about -4°C, hence the furry jacket and gloves.

It took about half an hour to get the LongEze out of the hangar and positioned with respect to the sun. Another hour of twonking around trying various poses and film settings.

Eventually Simon Rodway  (the editor of RCMW at the time) decided that Vanessa should lean against the LongEze, so that all you see is a bit of the fuz. and one tail fin. This is what a LongEze looks like, so you can see how much of it ended up on the cover shot.

By then we were all freezing cold and just wanted to go home. Neither Andy or Vanessa have spoken to me since........
